1)  Current Practice Issues for Advanced Practice Nurses
Presented By: San Angelo Health Associates
Date: April 25th, 2009
Time: Registration 7:30 am, Symposium begins at 8 am
Location: The LeGrand Center
1620 University Avenue
San Angelo, Texas 76904
Phone: 325-374-6378
Program Information: Carolyn Buppert is an attorney and Nurse Practitioner and she is an expert on practice issues for APNs! She literally "wrote the books" that you all probably had or will have in your APN curriculums. She is a nationally known speaker. We are fortunate to have her coming to San Angelo! I know we all wonder about legal issues, reimbursement, and how to negotiate a contract that meets our needs and helps insure that we have a satisfying practice. What an excellent opportunity to network and get some practice questions answered! It's a great opportunity for APN students or APNs just starting a practice! Cathy Kopac is a geriatric nurse practitioner and ethicist. She will speak on ethics in primary care, an often neglected yet very important topic! She is a wonderful speaker with lots of experience. We will have Christine Pintz, director of the GW DNP program discussing the current issues surrounding the Doctorate of Nursing Practice. I know that is on all of our minds. Do we need it or not? What does it mean to our practice? Then, we will have Lynda Woolbert, the public policy director for CNAP here to talk to us about the current Legislative issues in the state of Texas and how they will affect our practices. There is a lot currently going on! We will also have some other fun activities. Julie Zapata will present Untying the Knots- taking care of your self! This year we are also going to have some really cool vendors! We will have artisans and businesses with a flair of West Texas and San Angelo represented. Jewelry, Artists, food, chair massages, etc. etc.... This will really be a lot of fun! Not your typical conference and exhibits! Please register early so that you will get a spot. There is limited space and it is going to fill up fast. We plan to have breakfast and lunch so you can stay, play, and learn all day!
